Seminar: “U.S. Sanctions: How to Conduct Business with Russia in the Current Regulatory Environment”

The USRCC has finished its busy 2014 with a seminar held in partnership with KPMG – “U.S. Sanctions: How to Conduct Business with Russia in the Current Regulatory Environment”.
 
The seminar provided an excellent opportunity to learn about current OFAC and BIS rules and regulations affecting Russia. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce, former OFAC officials, KPMG professionals, BIS specialists, and industry experts shared their views on what is expected from the companies doing business in/with Russia in term of their compliance processes, policies, and solutions.

Ambassador Speaker Series: Business Luncheon Honoring the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the USA His Excellency Sergey I. Kislyak

On November the 13th, 2014 the USRCC hosted a Business Luncheon honoring  His  Excellency Sergey I. Kislyak, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the U.S. 

A career diplomat, Ambassador Kislyak joined the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation/USSR in 1977. During his distinguished career, he has held a range of posts, including that of Ambassador to Belgium and Russia’s representative to NATO. He was appointed Ambassador to the U.S. on September 16, 2008. Before that, he was deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in Russia from 2003 to 2008. 

During luncheon the Ambassador Kislyak addressed business and government officials of Houston on a variety of topics, including the state of current business and political relations between Russia, business and investment climate in Russia and the importance of developing further trade between Russia and the U.S. Ambassador Kislyak’s observations produced meaningful commentary on the current U.S.-Russia relations.

Welcome Reception and Dinner Honoring the Moscow City Government Delegation

On October 27, 2014, in partnership with the City of Houston, the USRCC had a great pleasure to host a Moscow City Government Delegation.

The Delegation included Mr. Sergey Kapkov, Minister of Moscow Government, Head of the Department of Culture;  Konstantin Petrov, Counsellor of Moscow Department of External Economic and International Relations;  Ekaterina Shchuryakhina, Consultant of International and Interregional Relations Division of Moscow Department of Culture; Ilya Chernyshev, Director of  Severnoe Tushino Park; Sergey Boldyrev, Director of Fili Park; Anastasia Anikeeva,  Senior expert of PR department of Gorky Park; Vitaly Timofeev, Director of Planetarium; Natalia Artyukhina, Director of Museum of Cosmonautics;  Elena Potemina, Vice Director of The Pushkin Museum; Daria Silina, Commercial Director of Centre of Cultural Events; Ilya Kuzmin, Deputy Head of Department of External and Economic Affairs, Kirill Batarin, Head of International Programs Division, and other dignitaries.

The USRCC Official Dinner honoring the Delegation was held at Rainbow Lodge, restaurant featuring Texas authentic sea food and wild game in a historic log cabin. The dinner was attended by about 40 business executives and dignitaries including, among others, representatives from Lukoil, Gazprom, Neftegaz, OMK, Scientific Drilling, City of Houston, Rusk Capital Management, and others.

CEO Panel Discussion: “U.S. and Worldwide Market Expansion of the Russian Companies: Opportunities and Challenges in the Current Business and Regulatory Environment” in partnership with the U.S. Department of State

On October 6th, 2014 the USRCC in partnership with the U.S. Department of State hosted a CEO Panel “U.S. and Worldwide Market Expansion of the Russian Companies: Opportunities and Challenges in the Current Business and Regulatory Environment”. The conference took place at the Union League Club in Chicago, IL and gathered more than 50 senior executives.

Business Panel Discussion was carried out by Piotr Galitzine, Chairman of TMK IPSCO, Bob Miller, President of NLMK USA and Conrad Winkler, President of EVRAZ North America and moderated by Aleksandra Efimova, Founder and President, Russian Pointe.

The 4th Annual Welcome Reception Honoring the Russian Delegation to the Breakbulk Americas 2014

The USRCC’s 2014 Annual BreakBulk Americas Reception was held in Four Seasons Hotel on October 1st. This reception honored the Russian Delegation attending the conference. More than 100 senior representatives from the major shipping, transportation and logistics companies as well as leaders of the oil and gas industry were present at the event.

This event featured JSC “NEK”  and its executives Nikolay Trubetskoy, General Director and Nikolai Belikov, Operations Director.
 

NEK is a group of freight forwarding, service and transportation companies with more than 700 employees and 40 branches, representative offices, and other legal entities in Russia, Kazakhstan, The Netherlands, Belarus, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Uzbekistan, and Canada. The Group’s core activities include logistics, customs brokerage, support and services for projects in the area of oil and gas industry.

The 5th Annual Welcome Reception Honoring the Russian and CIS Delegations to the Offshore Technology Conference 2014

On May 6th 2014 the USRCC hosted over 300 attendees at its 5th Annual Welcome Reception Honoring the Russian and Kazakhstan Delegation to the OTC 2014. 

OTC is the world’s largest oil and gas trade show held in the U.S., attracting over 90,000 attendees and 2,700 exhibiting companies, representing 120 countries. The USRCC is always proud to be a part of this great event! 

Keynote addresses were made by Dwight Boykins, Houston City Council Member and Mario Ruscev, Chief Technology Officer, Baker Hughes.

Conference: “Standardization Systems in the US and Russia”, organized by USRCC, ASTM and RSPP with the participation of ASME, NIST, API and RST

Conference: “Standardization Systems in the US and Russia”, organized by USRCC, ASTM and RSPP with the participation of ASME, NIST, API and RST

On April 2-3, 2014 the USRCC in partnership with the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), Rosstandart, American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), ASME International, and the American Petroleum Institute (API) conducted a conference addressing common issues and challenges of the standardization, certification and conformity assessment.

This conference, with a participation of more than 100 industry speakers, provided our members with a better understanding of the differences among the U.S., European, and Russian systems, including the various means of the standard adoptions, official translations, and helped to eliminate a lot of confusion and ambiguity that industry faces when addressing U.S. and Russian markets.

Reception Honoring the Russian and Canadian Delegations to the Arctic Technology Conference 2014

On February 11th 2014 the USRCC hosted Reception Honoring Russian and Canadian Delegations to the Arctic Technology Conference (ATC) at Four Seasons hotel. More than 100 senior representatives from oil and gas companies, service companies, and others were present. Keynote address was made by Honorable Terry French, Minister of Innovation, Business and Rural Development of Canada. It served as a good platform for networking and future business cooperation between the U.S., Russia and Canada.
