3rd Senior Executive Speaker Series

On February 22nd, 2016, the U.S.-Russia Chamber of Commerce organized its 3rd Senior Executive Speaker Series featuring Alexander Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee, Gazprom. More information about Mr. Medvedev is available here. The event took place in Four Seasons Hotel, Houston TX. 

 

Mr. Medvedev received a warm welcome from Kelly Dowe, Chief Business Officer, the City of Houston, who presented Mr. Medvedev an Honorary Citizen Award on behalf of the City of Houston. After Mr. Dowe’s speech Mikhail Antonov, President, Gazprom Marketing & Trading USA, provided introductory remarks and welcomed the audience on behalf of the company.

Mr. Medvedev’s provided an informative and engaging presentation about GAZPROM’s business, current activities, including in the Russian and international market, and provided guests with updates on the company’s profile including services, business structure and key customers.

The event was “by invitation only” and gathered executives of the most influential, top global energy companies and leading members of the financial, industrial, and technology communities. Attendees included Vice Presidents, Chairpersons and C-level executives from ExxonMobil, Chevron, Shell, Baker Hughes, GE, Emerson, Halliburton, Parker Drilling, KPMG, OMK Tube, Macquarie Energy, Mitsui, Saipem, Tudor, Radix Engineering, Pickering, Holt & Co., Gazprom Marketing and Trading, representatives of the City of Houston and others.

During the Q&A attendees had a chance to share their personal perspective on the future of gas around the world from the point of view of both consumers and producers. The discussion covered global gas prices, and international gas trading hubs.

Business roundtable concluded with the networking session where attendees exchanged opinions and made new business connections.

6th Annual Ambassador Speaker Series

The 6th Annual Ambassador Speaker Series Luncheon provided sponsors and guests with the unique opportunity to meet with and interact with His Excellency, Sergey I. Kislyak, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the United States. Ambassador Kislyak provided guests with a direct update about US-Russia relations, sanctions, the economy, challenges and opportunities. More than 150 guests were in attendance and came prepared with candid questions for His Excellency.

Tyumen Oil & Gas Forum

Tyumen Oil & Gas Forum

In furtherance of the Houston-Tyumen sister cities collaboration, representatives of the Houston-Tyumen Sister Cities committee of the USRCC attended the Tyumen Oil and Gas Forum 2016.

Tyumen is the oil and gas capital of Russia. More than 90% of Russian gas and 65% of the country’s oil is located and produced in the region. The region’s strong economic performance, federal support, and the arrival of internationally reputed corporations have made Tyumen into Russia’s largest oil services hub.

Tyumen Oil & Gas Forum – the annual international business event with an oil and gas agenda, one of Russia’s top five industry fora. The Forum is supported by the Government of Tyumen Region, the Ministry of Energy, and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation. The forum includes more than 30 discussion panels and roundtables.

Among others, the 2016 Forum was attended by business executives from LUKOIL, Baker Hughes, Rosneft, Gazpromneft, Belorusneft, Schlumberger. The 2016 Tyumen Oil and Gas Forum overview is available here

On September 28, the USRCC hosted the 6th annual reception honoring the Russian Delegation to the Breakbulk Americas 2016 Conference. The event was sponsored by ASTM InternationalNEK Group,  Atlantic Ro Ro Carriers

The event drew more than 70 leaders and companies from around the world industries like logistics, transportation, maritime, ports and government officials.
Keynote addresses were made by Hon. Alexander Zakharov, Consul General of the Russian Federation; John Moseley , Senior Director, Port of Houston Authority; Nikolay Trubetskoy, Founder and CEO, JSC “NEK”; Rick Shannon, President, Atlantic Ro-Ro.

Global leaders and companies with vested interests in Russia, Kazakhstan and the United States filled the room with meaningful conversations and connections. USRCC Reception in honor of Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Moscow Government and Moscow City Delegation

On April 22, 2016 the U.S.-Russia Chamber of Commerce hosted a reception honoring Sergey Cheremin, Minister and Head of the Department of External Economic and International Relations and Moscow City Delegation. Sergey Cheremin came to Houston to sign a program of cooperation between the City of Moscow and the City of Houston. 
The reception was attended by business executives and government officials. Mr. Cheremin received a warm welcome from Houston and was greeted by State Senator Rodney Ellis, who presented Cheremin as an honorary citizen of the state of Texas and County Judge Ed Emmett’s Office, Ryan Walsh, who presented Cheremin with a state flag of Texas that has flown over the state capital.

On March 28, 2016 the U.S.-Russia Chamber of Commerce hosted a Farewell Reception for Jorge Santos Silva, USRCC Board Member and Executive Vice President- Commercial, New Business Development & Integrated Gas, Shell. Jorge has played an integral role in leading the U.S.-Russia Chamber of Commerce as a board member and further developing U.S.-Russia trade and investment. 
 
The reception was attended by C-level executives from Apache, BHP, Cayo Energy, ExxonMobil, LUKOIL, Mitsui, Pilko Associates, Radix Engineering, Shell, TMK IPSCO.

Moscow-Houston: TechCities

The USRCC's Reception in Honor of the Russian Healthcare and Agricultural Delegations

On November 17, 2016, the U.S.-Russia Chamber of Commerce hosted a delegation from the Moscow City Government. The delegation came to Houston to find new technologies and products related to payment solutions, smart cities, information security and e-government that can be implemented in Moscow. 

In addition to the Moscow Government Delegation, the event was attended by representatives of: Houston Technology Center, University of Houston, Harris County, City of Houston, Consulate of the Russian Federation, Shell, Adams and Reese, and more.

IT companies were given the opportunity to present their technologies during the business roundtable directly to delegation officials. Presentations were made by Radix Engineering, Sheer Industries, Consort Inc., and Aerospec Technologies.

Young Professionals Speed Mentoring and Networking

The U.S.- Russia Chamber of Commerce (USRCC) hosted a Young Professionals Speed Mentoring and Networking event on October 27, 2016 that drew a crowd of more than 40 young professionals. New connections were made at happy hour held at Tango and Malbec. During speed mentoring sessions attendees had an opportunity to discuss professional strengths and challenges, ask questions, and gain insights from senior business professionals.

The 1st Annual Women's Leadership Speaker Series recap

On October 26, the USRCC hosted the 1st Annual Women’s Leadership Speaker Series luncheon. The event took place in Downtown Houston and drew more than 80 leaders from diverse companies and industries. The panel discussion was moderated by Meril Markley, Senior Director-International Tax, RSM US LLP.

Panelist speakers included: Beth Williams, CEO, TechTrans International; Kira Begunova, Manager of Geomodeling and Reserves Audit, LUKOIL International Upstream West Inc.; and Ellen Smith, Managing Counsel, Glogal Trade Compliance, Baker Hughes.

During the discussion speakers provided the audience with a frank discussion with the real examples of challenges, success stories and opportunities
